A flexible design of network devices using reconfigurable content addressable memory
نویسنده
چکیده
The content addressable memory is a memory unit that uses content matching instead of addresses. content addressable memory are used in different networking, telecommunications and storage applications because of their parallel, fast search capabilities. This paper presents a new method (called array method) for designing Reconfigurable content addressable memory (RCAM). The behavior of the new method was described using VHDL and implemented using FPGA technique. Then, the performance of the method was compared to other traditional content addressable memory design methods. The proposed RCAM is configured and used as the main part of different network security devices and units (Ethernet Address Filtering Unit, WLAN MAC Address Filtering Unit ,firewall on chip, QoS packet classification unit, Routing Table Search Unit and Network Intrusion Detection System search unit). The successful implementations of the suggested RCAM prove its high flexibility to be used in different network applications.

متن کاملA Mismatch-Immune 12-bit SAR ADC With Completely Reconfigurable Capacitor DAC
We overcome mismatch constraints of capacitor DAC design in SAR ADCs using a completely reconfigurable DAC with content addressable memory beneath groupings of unit capacitors. We demonstrate a linearity optimization technique in simulation and measurement. We achieve a nearly 2-bit repeatable ENOB improvement with a peak of 11.3 bits.
متن کاملSurvey on Content Addressable Memory and Sparse Clustered Network
Most memory devices store and retrieve data by addressing specific memory locations. As a result, this path often becomes the limiting factor for systems that rely on fast memory accesses. The time required to find an item stored in memory can be reduced considerably if the item can be identified for access by its content rather than by its address. A memory that is accessed in this way is call...
